Green pool cleanup

Pool went green while you were away, or came with the house that way? We bring it back to clear, fix the equipment that let it happen, and set it up so it doesn't come back. Available anywhere in our service area.

The sooner you call, the cheaper it is. Light green is a few days of work. Black and swampy can mean a drain.

Common problems

The pump or filter stopped
The most common cause. A pool with no circulation turns in days in summer.
Chlorinator ran empty
Or the salt cell died quietly. The water looks fine for a week, then it isn't.
A heat wave
Hot water burns through chlorine. A pool that was borderline tips over.
Vacant or just purchased
Nobody was watching it. We see a lot of these from realtors and new owners.
Storm debris
Leaves and dirt eat chlorine and feed algae. Wind events do it too.
Stabilizer too high
Years of tablets build up cyanuric acid until chlorine can't work. A partial drain is the only fix.

How we bring it back

First a test, because the chemistry decides the plan. If stabilizer and phosphates are reasonable, we treat it: shock, algaecide, brush, filter around the clock, vacuum to waste, and clean the filter as it loads up. Most pools clear in three to seven days.

If stabilizer is very high or the algae is black, a drain and acid wash can be cheaper and faster than fighting it. We'll say which.

After it's clear

We check why it happened. A pump that quit, a filter that's torn, a cell that's dead. That gets fixed or it'll be green again next month.

If you'd like someone watching it from here on, our weekly service routes cover most of the Conejo Valley.

Common questions

How long does it take?

Three to seven days for most green pools, depending on how far gone it is and how well the filter keeps up. A drain and refill is faster but uses a lot of water.

Is it safe to swim after?

Once the water is clear, balanced and the chlorine is back in the normal range. We'll tell you when.

What does it cost?

It depends on the chemistry and whether the filter and pump are working. We quote after the first test. A light green pool with working equipment is a small job.
